Shirley Paden, Knitwear designer and Author
Internationally celebrated knitwear designer and author Shirley Paden ranks among the who’s who of North American handknitting. Her designs and articles have appeared in leading magazines—Vogue Knitting, Interweave Knits, Interweave Crochet, Knitters, Family Circle, and Knit It—and 17 different books and yarn company design collections. She is the author of Knitwear Design Workshop: A Comprehensive Guide to Handknits, a key reference for the past decade.
Knitwear Workshop Designs: Duets and Inspirations, recently released, is Shirley’s second book. It showcases her designs as they were knitted by 16 creative students and is also garnering industry accolades.
Shirley has taught and lectured on handknitting and crochet, including a new online Ravelry series, Virtual Knitting Live. She created an online Handknit Garment Design class and her unique Handknit Garment Design app for the Craftsy website. In addition, the app is carried by the Apple and Google Play app stores.
She is the owner of Shirley Paden Custom Knits, located in New York City.
PRESENTATION: A Journey of Discovery
Shirley’s presentation will feature a short video that chronicles her transition from the corporate world to the fascinating world of handknitting as a designer, teacher, and author. She will discuss her Handknit Garment Design app and raffle five copies of her new book.
