GUEST SPEAKER: Andrea Lui, Physical Therapist
Saturday, May 10, 1–4 PM
Andrea Lui, PT, DPT (@theknittingPT), is a board certified clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy who happens to love all things fiber, including knitting, crochet, weaving, and spinning. In her work, Andrea is passionate about educating and empowering her patients. When she noticed that few resources were available to crafters, she began to create short videos specifically designed to help makers take care of their bodies and improve their crafting longevity.
Presentation: Posture and Ergonomics for Knitters
Do you experience aches and pains while knitting? Feel sore after crafting? Have difficulty holding your yarn and needles, but are not sure what to do? Andrea will discuss correct and optimal ergonomics for crafting, and common posture pitfalls to avoid. This class will address the entire body! We will learn some simple stretches and exercises to keep our muscles and joints healthy and happy. Bring a project to work on so that you can try out new postures and body adjustments in real time.
